71 Solar Suitcases Placed in Remote Schools in the Philippines

We Share Solar partnered with SunPower Corporation and Stiftung Solarenergie to install Solar Suitcases in some of the most remote schools in the world. The installation journey to get to some of these villages would often require multiple river crossings, boat and motorcycle rides, or trekking on foot for hours to reach these “last mile” schools. In 2016, we installed 71 Solar Suitcases in the Eastern Visayas, Palawan, and Mindinao regions. The majority of these systems were funded by SunPower and built by students from schools in Yolo County, California. SunPower employees in San Jose, Richmond and Manila volunteered to quality check the systems and prepare them for deployment.
